  1. I'm not a member of your group.  Just happened to surf the net to find out more about your group, after watching the show at Fairchild TV.

My wife and I went to Nepal (1 week) and India (1 month) decades ago when we were in HK.

We went white water rafting, jungle safari other than watching all the ancient buildings there.

It's not too expensive to travel in India.  We bought a one month 1st class Rail Pass and we planned out route along the railway track.  we went from New Dehli to Goa.  We skipped Kashmir because of bombing at that time. Travelling is pretty safe in the 4=people compartment.  You can even request a 2-person roon which you have barred windows and bolted door.  We tried to spend  our nights on the train as much as possible to safe time and money.  Eating and living shouldn't be a big problem coz living standard is pretty low.  Just don't eat in the streets to prevent yourself from getting sick.  Always negociate and don't trust the people (even govt agents)  They will earn your money whenever it's possible.  We tried to eat at hotel restaurants even when we didn't live there.  They're supposed to be cleaner.  And they didn't cost too much.

Being there, try not to be kind to beggars.  Give one and you will have 20 times more following you,  And they can follow you for 1/2 hour.  Hope this help.

  3. Having been there food is exspensive but remember the dollar is worth more there, if u figure at between $50 & 100 every 2 weeks u should do well. I know your backpacking but are you planning to stay in hotels anytime if you are better plan for that and if u use a tent make sure it does really well if it rains, becasue if u go wrong time of year they get alot in short amount of time. But be very careful and make sure you get papers from the embassy on customs of the country so you dont get yourself in trouble.

  4. Estimated daily costs for backpacking are here: http://www.thetravellerslounge.co.uk/cur...

Double them for dollars! so budget for around $30+ a day...?
