  1. Poverty is a very big problem in developing and underdeveloped countries and impacts environment in nagative way. But, even than we developed people especially who live in cities are the biggest destructor of our forest and environment.

In poverty stricken countries or regions more people are dependent on natural resources so due to logging, poaching, fishing and collection of minor forest produces we have a negative impact on our environment. This over exploitation of natural resources includes cutting trees for agricultural purpose or slash and burn agriculture which is practised in many places.

But, even than we city dwellers are actually the biggest threat to our environment since we are the biggest polluters and waste a lot of resources which these poor people can not afford to do. Remember the problem of global warming has increased and is due to pollution from our vehicles, factories and nonsustainable living habits and not due to poor and forest dwellers.

  2. Areas of poverty have higher rates of deforestation. Either for logging or slash and burn agriculture. Areas of poverty also have much high birth rate often five or six times that of industrialized countries. This creates a great need for resources which often means overfishing, poaching, or other destructive practices to feed families.
