I hope I understand your question.  Let's use an example of selling $5 pizzas.  Demographic targeting says, target people who don't make a lot of money, since they are most likely to enjoy $5 pizzas.  Then, you say, how far are people willing to drive to pickup a $5 pizza?  That's geographic targeting, where perhaps you distribute flyers only to a local neighborhood.  Then you say, what will motivate our best customers keep coming back to us for $5 pizzas? This is psychographic targeting, where you try to understand how your customers think, believe and behave.  If your $5 pizzeria is near a college - then you can guess best customers stay up late, they want to share their pizza with friends, and they don't want the pizza to suck; if you offer late pickup, large pizzas, and decent taste, all for $5, odds are you could build a loyal customer base.  Hope this helps!
