  1. An order or directive given by the President himself.


  2. An order issued by anyone empowered as an executive within any company may issue an executive order.  The fact that others may exceed that executive in authority has nothing to do with it . If you have received an executive order from your immediate executive superior, you do it.  The chain of command in any organization shoud be diagramed in your employee pamphlet.

  3. Executive Orders are essentially orders issued by the President (POTUS) and directs the executive branch of the government.  Sometimes, Executive Orders have the full weight of law-but that is usually when issued in conjunction with a law passed by Congress.  An Executive Order can be be rescinded by the President who issued it or any subsequent President.
