I'd like to assume a 7pm or 7:30 bedtime and 7am wakeup. Let's also assume 2 naps are still needed.

When should they nap and more importantly, when should they eat?

We're trying to switch up the routine a little. Our son has been driving me crazy waking up at or before 5am. He'd nap at 8am for about an hour and again at 1pm for 1 1/2 to 2 hours and would be exhasted by 6pm when we'd put him to bed.

A few mornings ago he slept in until 6am or 6:30, so I ran with that and tried shifting the whole routine. It's working sort of. He's woken up a 1/2 hour later each morning for the past 3 mornings. What a dream to sleep in until 7:30 this morning!!!

I used to feed him dinner around 4 or 4:30. Now I try to hold him off until 5 or 6 and put him to bed at 7 or 7:30.

We used to eat lunch at 10:30 and I'm not sure now when to lunch and if I should add in a snack. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  1. This is what I did.

    7.30am breakfast

    10.30am snack

    10.45am short nap

    12.00pm lunch

    2.00pm long nap

    3.30pm snack if needed

    5.30pm dinner

    7.00pm bath

    7.30pm bed

I found it was great because he gradually started to have his morning nap later and later until the 2 merged and this meant he slept a lot better for us at night.
