What is an incentive fund AQHA foal?

I used to own a AQHA mare (Cameo Rose Redford) and she was an incentive fund foal, but I have no clue what that means. I know it's a stupid question. I have since moved on to a TB.

  1. The AQHA incentive fund is a program where stallions are enrolled in the program to improve breeding stats. When a stallion is enrolled, his offspring are automatically eligable to be nominated into the incentive fund. It is best to nominate the foal at birth if not before weaning. When they are shown, not only does the stallions offspring receive points and money earned, but so does the stallion. It's a nice way to get the breeders and their farms offspring back into showing and a way to benefit all.  At the end of that year, AQHA divides the money up from the incentive fund. Here is the link for you to look at.

  2. There are no stupid questions...just have to learn where to find the information.

Probably has something to do with Sires, Mares and Foals being nominated and accumulating points for prizes/prize money.

If interested, I would google to find out for sure.  I don't have a QH either....but if you want to know more, try searching.

Hope this info. helps you....even though it did not answer the question perfectly!!

    Good Luck with your "hunt"!!

  3. The AQHA incentive fund is a way for you to earn money from the points you get on your horse.  At the end of the year, you get money depending on how many points the horse has.  The points are worth so much a piece (I don't think AQHA is that much..maybe a couple bucks per point), but the Kentucky Incentive Fund is MUCH higher payout, which is why a lot of stallion owners are moving their studs to Kentucky (because the foal is only eligible if the stallion stands in Kentucky, and if the foal is born in Kentucky).

  4. Its a fund that the stallion has paid into so that the resulting foals are eligible to win money when shown. Useless if you dont intend to show your foal - but neat to know that his sire was nominated and fees were paid - might mean he's a big wig producer - its a way to promote the sire - by encouraging his foals to show.
