What is an interesting and uplifting current event?

currently there are thousands of people feeding other people thousands more building houses for other people thousands more doing lots and lots of work to change the world.

None of them get into the press because nothing sells soap better then fear.

try the local soup kitchen get the kids involved if there is no current event make one.

Change the schools lightbulbs to compact fluorecents save your school and your church thousands

Get on the news Kid

go door to door get people to bring there own bags to the supermarket sell them the bags

Change the world and be the current event kid

I personally find John McCain's apointment of Palin as his vp running mate pretty exciting, interesting and uplifting.

The Republican National Convention will be converting at least part of their event to being an aid/relief effort for people whose homes are damaged by Hurricane Gustav.  I don't think I've ever seen a political convention do that, before.  Pretty cool.

The Olympics come to mind.

But then my mind immediately dismisses them as having become a corporate sponsored professional sporting event.

Held in a country that denies its citizens full liberty.

Reported by reporters who would not be allowed full freedom if they were reporting anything else except a sporting event...

Lots of history is being made... the first Arican-American person has accepted the nomination for President... the first female running mate has been chosen... and she does not seem to fit the "appearance" of what everyone expected... I would like to think that this means our country is finally getting to the point of thinking outside the box...

I think the fact that in just a few months we will either have a black president or a woman vice-president is both interesting and uplifting.

I read a story in Ensign Magazine (pg. 74) titled 'Members Rely on Prayer During Deadly Tornado' by Eric Eames. The link is http://www.lds.org/churchmagazines/EN_20...

Off to the side you can click which part of the mag you want to see. It's at the bottom under 'News of the Church.'

The story is about a tornado which struck May 25, 2008 and one family experience during it. It's really uplifting.
