  1. a person in a gym setting that helps injured pople to exercise right areas of the injury they have so they dont injure the

leg or foot or back they already have problems with.

They work ina gym type setting where they can torture poor

weak people get stronger and more injured and sore

until they go back to work sore and bent over in pain to live out life until the darn injury heals on its own. Its a workers compensation way to make people want to not stay off work to heal but to make them pain in the area they have the most pain in until they not wanting to do therapy any more go back to work and loose their compensation checks cause they cant stand the pain they are being put thruogh due to worker comp laws make you go to all therapy sessions where you are made to work the area that is giving you the pain in the firt place. makes people seek pain killers and they become hooked on opiates and things like viacodine and narcotics

to ease the pain so they can suffer at work. some even lose their jobs due to the pain or being on drugs they need causethey are in pain for real and cant stand being in pain

pain can make you crazy enough to even kill yourself to releive the recurring feeling of pain and back pain is as bad or worse than given birth some say. I had a compressed disk

and two mashed vertabre after a car wreck at freeway speeds

of 65 when I was in a pile up in a grass fire that raced up the hill side of the freeway during a summer afternoon a car fire

set the mid way of e two freeway on fire the smoke caused the pile up and I didnt see the wrecks in the freeway in the smoke flowing over and onto the freeway toward me the winds where blowing the smoke on the ground in my cars

front and over the pileup when I hit those cars piled up in the freeway all lanes. anyway I got injuredin the back and I would say to the therapist my back is in spasm and she would move me and I would go into tense tension spasms i could not stop thenId have to be picked up by my spouse at the occupational therapist office pulled off the machine she was torturing me with and Id end up weeks in the bed with my leg elevated on muscle relaxers and pain killers till the darn back would relax and the disks stop grinding bone to bone and

the nerves stop swelling which caused my back to pull and spasm more. thats what a occ therapist does and I wouldnt want to have or be one it pays well cause comp worker comp

insurance pays them well to get people to go back o work before they are really ready. Its a big insurance fraud system and should be against the law but they get away with it

and its the insurance company that makes out cause they are the funders of the therapy industry. Its a big rip off of the public and kills allot of people with those tactics. cheers

  2. An occupational therapist is a health professional who aims to improve quality of life, by enabling a closer fit with the person their environment and their occupations.

  3. My dad's occupational therapist helps him learn how to do day-to-day activities, such as dress himself, take a shower, shave, etc. This is different from a physical therapist, which my dad also has, who helps him to do things like walk, get in and out of a car, etc.

    Hope this helps.

  4. Occupational Therapist

Plans and conducts individualized occupational therapy programs to help patients develop, regain, or maintain their ability to perform daily activities. Teaches patients skills/techniques and how to use adaptive equipment for participating in activities. Studies, evaluates, and records patients' activities and progress. Requires a bachelor's degree and is certified as a occupational therapist. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to a manager.

  5. in simple terms an occupational therapist is a person that helps another person or child with basic life skills

ie: putting on clothes, brushing their teeth, tying shoelaces, grooming, and so on and so forth

I hope I helped in some way :)

  6. therapy based on engagement in meaningful activities of daily life (as self-care skills, education, work, or social interaction) especially to enable or encourage participation in such activities despite impairments or limitations in physical or mental functioning

    — occupational therapist noun

  7. An occupational therapist (OT) is a health professional who is fully qualified and trained in the practice of occupational therapy. The role of an occupational therapist is to work with a client to help them achieve a fulfilled and satisfied state in life through the use of "purposeful activity or interventions designed to achieve functional outcomes which promote health, prevent injury or disability and which develop, improve, sustain or restore the highest possible level of independence."[1]. A practical definition for OT can also be illustrated with the use of models such as the Occupational Performance Model (Australia), known as the OPM(A). At the core of this approach is the ideology that occupational therapists are concerned with the occupations of people and how these contribute to health.[2] Specifically it is a person’s occupational performance that influences their health and personal satisfaction of their individual needs. The OPM(A) is constructed on the following definition of Occupational Performance:

"The ability to perceive, desire, recall, plan and carry out roles, routines, tasks and sub-tasks for the purpose of self-maintenance, productivity, leisure and rest in response to demands of the internal and/or external environment."[3]

It can be seen that occupational performance, the roles it creates for a client, and the areas it can encompass are so far-reaching that an occupational therapist can work with a wide range of clients of various limitations who are being cared for in an array of settings.

In summary, Occupational Therapy is about helping people do the day-to-day tasks that “occupy” their time, sustain themselves, and enable them to contribute to the wider community. Its these opportunities to “do” that occupational therapy provides that prove important and meaningful to the health of people.
