  1. Races are categorised not only by distance, but by the maximum number of dogs allowed in each team. The most usual categories are four-dog, six-dog, eight-dog, ten-dog, and unlimited (also called open), although other team size categories can be found.

  2. how would a sled dog team pull a sled without harness or leashes??????

It's just a different type of sledding.

  3. Open team means you can have as many dogs on the team as you want.  As apposed to a limited team which limits the number or type of dogs you can use.

Free running is running with no harness or leash, usually alongside a snowmobile or similar vehicle and in a wide open space far from cars
