  1. although is sounds like weejee, it is actually spelt ouija. this comes from 'oui' as the french word of yes, and 'ja' as the the german word of yes.

the ouija board is a piece of wood with a few features, a yes sign, a no sign and a goodbye sign. there are the numbers from 0-9 and all the letters of the alphabet. a small pointer or glass is placed on the board, and people will lightly place their fingers on the glass. they will then say a prayer or ritual to 'open' the board in hope to contact the dead, or spirits. once the board is open, users ask questions and the pointer moves towards letters to spell out words, or the yes/no sign.

the ouija board was often used as a game since victorian times, but ouija boards can be extremely dangerous if they work. whoever you contact might not be very nice, and remember they were people once and they can lie. it is also dangerous because once you have opened the board, the spirit is within that room, and can cause alot of problems. they might not neceserilly leave.

no one knows how ouija boards work, therefore they should never be treated as just a silly toy.

i hope this helps, please can everyone make sure you are very aware of the risks of ouija before you try and use it

  2. Interesting that this subject has brought up so many objections as well as interesting points and descriptions.

The following is something I wrote to answer another person's question on ouija boards:

I first watched a session with some Chinese friends in Hong Kong when I was 16. They told me not to try it because my father would kill them if he found out, since he was Catholic. I watched as they placed a clear dish on a large sheet which had a thousand or so Chinese characters on it, none of which I could read or understand. Anyway, a few of them got the heebie jeebies and pulled out, but I was intrigued.

I went home and took a sheet of cardboard out and wrote a few hundred words from the English dictionary on it and then asked my sisters to play it with me. We had a jolly good time the first time, ribbing each other about who was pushing it etc.

My mother joined in on other occasions and so did my father (lo and behold!) because some of the answers that we were given had come true.

Anyway, one night, we were playing with it after dinner and my brother, who always felt left out when us 'girls' did things together decided to mock the spirit that was present. The spirit then replied to him to beware, that it would visit him that night. My brother freaked out and decided to sleep in my mother's bed that night. At 4am, his bedside alarm went off and woke us all up. It was a funny sight to see my mother scolding the cardboard and plastic marker at that time of the morning I tell you!

But it doesn't end there. The family continued to play it as harmless fun until one night, my sister started painting her toe nails and had her legs in an unseemly position. This seemed to have drawn down a spirit calling himself 'Satan's son'. We were obviously disturbed by this as lewd comments and actions were directed to her by this spirit and we had to terminate the game because of a fear of repercussions. Didn't know what they could be at the time but the 'feel' of the air was not a good one.

Again, on an occasion later, with friends, we tried this and whilst playing it, when someone was being disrespectful, the plate flew across the room and smashed in half. It spooked all the people playing and needless to say, they ended the game.

On yet another occasion, and this is relayed to me by a friend recently who remembers it from our childhood, the spirit promised a visit that night. My friend, unaccustomed to its use could hardly sleep that night. She later woke to a thunderous sound and the bed shaking and was too scared to open her eyes, but finally did and began laughing hysterically, because I was sleeping beside her and snoring like a trooper!

On yet another occasion, my siblings tried this without my presence and they apparently encountered hauntings all night, with voices from adjoining rooms that were other worldly. This, I am told has been the reason why none of them have played it ever since.

However, my fascination with it has never abated. I have conducted regular seances, but have one or two warnings that I feel I must state.

The experience that you get from playing with the board is exactly what you think you will get. The mind is very powerful. If you are afraid when you play it, you will draw those energies more fully toward you, in what would then be considered, spirits with fearsome intentions. If you believe you will draw angels or people who have passed over, in essence, you will do just that.

Always protect yourself before you start, if only to reassure your mind that no harm will come to you. I always start a session with, "Goddess the Mother of all protects me. God the Father of all defends me. I am always safe. I am never alone. I call upon my guardian angels and spirt guides to enter this circle of white light and divine inspiration. May my higher self transmit to me the knowledge I am about to receive and the wisdom to make the best use of it." I end each session thanking the spirits in whichever way I see fit and then ask them to close the circle and protect anyone who has been in the session once it has ended.

My ouija board is nearly worn out, the words have all but disappeared but I still use it and no harm has come to me. I use it by myself because I am impatient and yes, I move the centrepiece myself physically as I know intrinsically where it wants to lead me because I trust that the words I hear or see are from a higher source, from within me. I TRUST it implicitly and this faith and trust serves me well. I know I do not serve the devil by playing it and if the devil should one day appear, I know it is my fears working overtime and I will know how to banish it. However, no devil has ever appeared for me as I do not believe the devil exists.

I believe in God and that he only sends me angels and guides. The ouija Board is a tool, it directs me to my highest inner self, the self that knows what is best for me and will share that knowledge with me so that I can become the grandest version of the greatest vision of myself that I can create. Treat it with respect and no harm will come to you.

In my sessions, we have found missing people, helped people understand their lives, acquired reasons for certain circumstances and even found names for children, pets & houses. The questions you can ask it are endless, but know one thing, the answers all come from you who play the board.

Be wise, be brave and don't let those who believe in organised religion say that something is wrong when the most benevolent God with the best of motives lives within us all!

Play the Ouija Board with respect!

  3. its a dangerous "game".. you are not suppose to play them because it invites evil spirits.. I have a long story that i just wrote out so i don't feel like writing it again but they are dangerous and my mom didn't know my sisters and I were playing it in her home (Ouija boards are not allowed in her house) and she started telling us about a dark figure in the windows and the dryer turning on but when she went to turn it off it wouldn't be on.. and such.. my aunt also stayed here (mom never told her) and my aunt seen and heard it to and refused to stay her because it scared her so bad. my mother then got the house blessed and it left (we still hear and see some things though) and my sisters and i finally told my mother we played it and she was angry with us because she doesn't allow them in her house and we brought in an evil spirit. the thing smashed glasses to.. our glasses would come up off the table and fly across the room. You need to be extremely careful with them.. i suggest saying a prayer before playing "which i do" and i play at another friends house lol ;) but its probably better just to stay away from them.. they aren't just a game .. i have more stories but it would make this answer to long.

  4. It's pronounced "WEEJEE"...You should stay away from it. It might not work..but if it does..it's a real spirit/ghost or something worse..and you're inviting it into your home and you might not ever get it to leave. The little fun you might have isn't worth it.

  5. It is mainly used to communicate with the spirit world.  Hence the name "Spirit Board".

There are many different types & versions of this game.  The older ones were carved from real wood with the numbers, letters & yes & no were slightly burned into the wood.  The indicator was also wood & very delicate.

The boards they have out today is made of press board with paper glued to it.  The indicator is now made of plastic.

A Spirit Board is a portal so to speak.  It opens a door for spirits to come out.  You will NEVER truly know what comes out(good or evil).  What does come out, they are horrible spellers & will lie to you.

Spirit Boards are  games & even if you are not actually playing one & you leave the indicator on top of the board, the portal is still open leaving what ever to enter thru it.

Usually, young people will "experiment" by playing this.

This is just from my personal experiance & you can take what you will from this.

  6. It's a board game. They are the absolute easiest ways to play jokes on silly people.Ouijas are harmless and great fun.Of all the questions repeated over and over here. This is the one I never get tired of.Because I know somewhere, silly folks are screaming hysterically. With their friends watching them and laughing hysterically. It's truly hilarious,I'm laughing just thinking about it.

  7. Its a board game that lets you talk to the spirit world.

  8. Talking boards are used to predict the future, answer questions and contact otherworldly beings. Some say It's all subconcious but it's probably both a mix of subconscience brain activity  and sometimes people really do contact the dead and otherworldly beings. It's the same with everything else. There is always more then one way to do something right. There is more than one thing that is the cause of global warming.

  9. The Ouija board is a board game in which the participants are able to mysteriously obtain answers to questions they ask. It has become a popular belief that Ouija boards let you communicate with "spirits" or "demons", but what really is happening is that the participants are moving the planchette around via ideomotor effect (see link). While the ideomotor effect is well-known, this has not stopped the popular mysticism about the Ouija board from spreading. You can buy a Ouija board at Toys R Us.

  10. A ouiji board is a board with a series of letters and numbers on it. It's meant to help someone communicate with spirits. Simply place your hands on the rolling piece, and ask a question. The moving piece will then move to the appropriate letters to spell out the answer if there is a spirit in the room.

I personally don't believe that the ouiji board actually has any powers, but many people do. It is said to be some form of dark magic.

    Hope this helped,

    Andrea.

  11. It's a game (aka "witching board") ostensibly used to contact spirits.  A Ouija board has numbers, letters, yes/no, etc. on it and a pointer of some sort called a planchette.  People place their hands gently on the planchette and ask "spirits" questions.  Through what's called the ideomotor effect the planchette moves, spelling out the answers.  The ideomotor effect is a phenomenon which causes a person to move the indicator without being aware of it.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ideomotor

Many superstitious and people and those ignorant of the workings of the ideomotor effect truly believe they are conversing with spirits.  They are also likely to take seriously the possibility of unfavorable residual effects of Ouija board use.  They will have spooooky stories and anecdotes of the terrifying things that can happen if you open a portal to the other side.

  12. It is not just a Milton Bradley toy. It is dangerous and should'nt be played. I have one and creepy things go on in my house. I went to see a psychic medium and she said don't use it. Get rid of it. It is used to communicate with the afterlife and can let negative spirits into your house. These spirits can and will haunt you if you provoke it. It is a good way to scare your friends but, it is seriously dangerous.

  13. stay away from it. you can open up something that you won't be able to put back.

  14. There are a lot of good responses here on what exactly the Ouija board is.  It can be a dangerous tool.  Of course, we can argue that it can't be, because it's manufactured by Mattel and Parker Brothers.  But then again, these same people assume these companies originally invented the Ouija board, when in fact, the Ouija board has existed (most prevalently) in European Pagan faiths for many thousands of years.  A true Ouija board is usually blessed or a 'spell' may be placed on it to give it it's supernatural powers and to protect users, but the Parker Brothers version is just a flimsy cardboard simulation.

  15. Contact with the dead.

    DO NOT DO IT.

IT IS EVIL AND AGAINST GOD!!!
