What is an "S" cord for?

On the back of my tv and dvd player there is a hole marked "S."

What is it for?

  1. Just an optional way to connect the two devices and not necessary. If you still have the manual for either one the info is in there. And one or both of them probably came with the cord. most dvd players come with that cord nowadays


  2. if there are little holes inside the jack, then it is a s-video jack, it can be used to connect laptop to tv.

    s-video stands for super video or separate video
