  1. General anesthesia is a drug-induced state on unconsciousness.  We use a variety of drugs to achieve that, and each patient's anesthetic is tailored to the individual.

For a circ, I'd put you out with propofol, maybe slide an LMA in for your airway, or hold a mask on your face if the surgeon was quick, and give you some pain meds, just enough until you slowed your breathing down to about 10 times/minute.  Then I know you'll wake up comfortable.

    Cool, isn't it?

  2. it is a drug given during surgery, it temporarily shuts dwon your nervous system, and causes you go in a very deep sleep. Different amounts are given depending on the length of the surgery. Anasthesia is given by putting a pipe into your throat, you then breath the  anesthetic agent

  3. Anesthesia is in simple words stopping sensation by blocking the action of the nerves by using special medications for that purpose. And since they block nerves it makes you numb and sometimes if it was given through mouth or nose it makes you lose consciousness. It can be local to specific areas of skin for smaller operations. The whole purpose of this process is to make you lose all sensations, and since pain is a sensation you lose that too and they operate on you. It is done (The anesthesia) by a specialized doctor called anesthesiologist.
