well, basically it is just called the back row. lol.

but there is 1 player on a team, called a libero, and they always play back row. they have a differant colored jersey (usually white), and they can be put in/taken out of the back row, and the back row only at any time they want.

since their jersey is a differant color, they do not need to call a sub, and delay the game to go in, they can just go in, because the reffs know they are the libero.

The back row is usually called back row players.  But, they are sometimes called by the spots they are in.  The right back player is called the right back.  This is also the 1 spot.  Same with the left back.  This is called the 5 spot.  Usually the libero plays the middle back.  This is the 6 spot.  Hope this helps.

They can all be considered DS's. (Defensive Specialists.) No this does not mean the libero. Just back row players mainly

in general it is called "defensive specialist" or "DS"

there is also a player called the libero. this player is allowed to come in and out of the back row without substituting. and they dont have to necessarily play middle back. they can play any position on the back row.

i was libero for my school this year. it was fun. =]
