What is another way I could phrase "against all odds"? Or is there another saying that is similar to that?

I'll give you a real example from my life as an illustration of your request. When I was 15 years or so, I told to one idiot guy: "I think about you day and night" And he said me: " I  also think about you. Let us leave it at that.".

Now , I give you one of my statements : I never felt that I didn't have a chance to win the Lottery and really I won many times.

Finally, I give you an another example ,something from my personality. I've made good and bad things in my life, and often the ones that  looked like they cannot be done.
