What is appropriate attire for an evening 50th anniversary party?

We are invited to my husband's godparents 50th wedding anniversary party next month. The invitation shows that this is taking place at a country club and it states that it starts at 6:00 in the evening and there will be dinner and dancing.

I am trying to find a dress to wear, but not sure if I should go with something like a little black dress or something a little more summery.

Definitely smart evening wear, if its being held at a country club.  They have dress codes.  Not over the top like a ball gown, but definitely a nice black dress, appropriate footwear and a few accessory's to top off the outfit.
