  1. Dress for the weather.  It should be in the upper 60 and partly sunny.  Be yourself, comfortable shoes.  If you like to dress up then go for it.  Anything goes.  The Kentucky Derby is known for the FANCY HATS, and a nice dress.  Like Easter. That's as far as clothes go. As far as the race......

    Go Big Brown!

  2. just wear something comfortable

  3. I'm guessing you mean the Preakness (I lived in Baltimore for 18 yrs and never heard it called the Black Eyed Susan). Generally unless you have a nice seat in the stands you don't need to dress fancy the majority of the crowd is casual.  However, if you want to dress nicely, I'd suggest just wearing a sundress.

  4. I am sure the Baltimore area florists are well stocked with Black-Eyed Susan flowers. So how about some Black-Eyed Susans in your hair? And those Black-Eyed Susans in your hair might also be a clue to your condition when you are found on the ground after downing 2 or 3 Black-Eyed Susans at the track, the traditional drink at the Preakness. The Mint Julep at the Kentucky Derby ain't got nothing on that Black-Eyed Susan at the Preakness because it will kick your butt. And it is oh so good! But after the third glass it will be nap time on the ground.

  5. Black Eyed Susan is the premier 3YO Fillies race at Pimlico.

It corresponds to the Preakness Stakes for 3YO Colts & Geldings.

Pimlico is uniquely folksie among "Triple Crown Races".  The festive mood of Preakness Stakes and Black Eyed Susan Stakes allows for casual and formal wear.  VIPs and $2 wagerers will rub shoulders and have a great time.  If you are an owner or trainer it is appropriate to be more on the formal end.  Whatever apparel make certain it is comfortable.

  6. It is not true that all Triple Crown races are Formal Attire.  It depends on your personal situation.  If you and your friends are going to sit or stand in the infield then you are not required to be formally attired.  If you are attached to one of the horses in any way than you may want to be dressed Formally.

I have attached a pic of the Preakness Celebration.  Most people are not dressed up.  I am going to both the Preakness and the Black Eyed Susan and I will be dressed Business Casual.
