Hair straightener with European plug?

I reside in Canada but am going to England for a couple of days before going to live in Czech Republic for the summer.

I want one that works good but not too expensive.

  1. Boots the Chemist, any large branch of a supermarket (e.g. Sainsburys, Tesco, Morrisons), any electrical shop (e.g. Comet, Dixons) ... they're all over the place

  2. Take your usual hair straightener and buy a plug adapter for less than 10GBP.

  3. NO - NO - you cannot do that.

Canada uses 120Volt supply - the UK and nearly all Europe use 240 Volts supply, plug your Canadian straightener into a UK\Europe socket and it will fry !!!!!!

All departmental stores will sell hair straighteners - but Boots (the chemists) with stores almost every where usually have a selection to choose from - but buying in the UK does not usually get you a device with a european plug on - it will have a UK plug - but a very cheap adapter is available to fit European sockets.
