How can you tell something that is art from something that's not? What makes one thing art and another not art. Is it because one was created with the purpose of being art and one wasn't? What is the line between art and just another object?

  1. Art delivers a message, or tells a story and the artist puts a lot of effort into it.

Non-art is anything that doesn't meet those qualities.

  2. In the quilting world this is an ongoing discussion.  Many quilts are made not to be put on a bed but hung on the wall.

They tell a story and have taken a very long time to create.  Yet some still say it is a craft.   I guess Art is in the eye of the observer.
