My sister gave up riding quite a few years ago because of the back pain it caused and she would love to get back in the saddle but can't deal with the pain. She is looking for a supplier or more information on types of saddles that may help.

  1. I wish there was one !

The only way I think it will help her is maybe a PASO FINO ?

or some 2 gaited horse to help

    saddles are so different

I have 2 steel rods and need two more I am in daily pain

it 's really not the saddle

it's going to be the gait of the horse..AND how easy he is on her to ride ,,,

Really ,,I have been a horse trainer for over 35 yrs and I find no matter what saddle I sit in . If my back goes out , It's going to go Out !No matter what !!

I hope she gets better soon

  2. Better to just stay off horses!

  3. Perhaps it is not the saddle at all, though a good one might help.

    Consider a gaited horse.

Since injuring my left knee posting is out of the question. I ride my Paso Fino and Peruvian Paso mares in perfect comfort. I know of women who have had lower spinal fusion and still ride Pasos.

When I am too old to ride, I shall drive a good horse!

  4. Thats a hard one as it depends on her back pain and what causes it. For instance I have a bad lower back (as my syatic nerve travels out of my spine into my hip) that is affected by the width of the horses back and so far, other than muscle relaxers, there is nothing out there. For other people a back support will help as it keeps the lower back straight. Also, Stubben is making a new ergonomic saddle with a special seat. In addition, I would get with a saddle dealer who will allow her to do test rides and just ride the saddles. Some saddles ride better to a particular rider than others.
