  1. It is an immuno suppressant (anti inflammatory) it is used in chron's disease and in transplant patients. The main thing with this drug is that it lowers your immune system so becareful not to get sick!

    here is a list of all the S/E i could find with a link below.  GL to you!!!

    pale skin, easy bruising or bleeding, unusual weakness;

    fever, chills, sore throat, body aches, weakness, muscle pain, flu symptoms;

    severe nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea;

    severe pain in your upper stomach spreading to your back, fast heart rate; pain or burning with urination; stomach pain, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, and jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes); or white patches or sores inside your mouth or on your lips.

    Less serious side effects may include:

    mild upset stomach, nausea, diarrhea, loss of appetite;

    hair loss; or skin rash.

  2. Azathioprine is an antimetabolite. It works by decreasing the effects of certain cells in the body's immune system. It is not a new drug.

    The immune system helps your body fight infections and can also fight or "reject" a transplanted organ such as a liver or kidney. This is because the immune system treats the new organ as an invader.

    It is used as an adjunct for prevention of rejection in renal homotransplantation; treatment in adults for severe, active, erosive rheumatoid arthritis not responsive to conventional management.

    Other uses include treatment of chronic ulcerative colitis, Crohn disease, myasthenia gravis, atopic dermatitis and Behcet syndrome.

    Azathioprine side effects:

    Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

    Call your doctor at once if you have a serious side effect such as:

    pale skin, easy bruising or bleeding, unusual weakness; fever, chills, sore throat, body aches, weakness, muscle pain, flu symptoms; severe nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea; severe pain in your upper stomach spreading to your back, fast heart rate; pain or burning with urination; stomach pain, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, and jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes); or white patches or sores inside your mouth or on your lips.

    Less serious side effects may include:

    mild upset stomach, nausea, diarrhea, loss of appetite; hair loss; or skin rash.

  3. It's Krohn's disease, not chromes disease.  This might help you when you are doing research.  Good luck to you both.

  4. My mum is on azathioprine for Myasthenia Gravis, and as far as I know, suffers very few/no side effects from it
