What is bad about Modern Football?

I will mention two simple observations:

Even big spanish clubs like Valencia now have more than one sponsor: http://www.uksoccershop.com/images/7765.jpg

EPL plays on three to even four consecutive days with games on Sat, Sun and Monday. TV rights, three days = 3 viewing times and more $$$$$$$$

I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE OBSERVED ON THIS AND WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT IT?

  1. Club Football is a business to the owners, and a job to the players.  I don't understand why some people are making it seem like they aren't or that they should exist solely for entertainment purposes.

Only International football is for entertainment purposes and instills a feeling of loyalty, admiration, and honor in the players for the game.

And if you're gonna mention player loyalty, you might also want to mention club management loyalty as well.  Why should the players be criticized because they want to move on, but clubs don't get criticized for throwing players around when they feel like it?  Don't you think its disloyal when a club fires the manager that gave them three consecutive domestic titles as was the case for my favorite club?  Don't you think its disloyal when a player is benched for a season even though the previous season he was one of the best the club had?

So I don't wanna hear c**p about player disloyalty.  Ronaldo has every right to want to play for another club, but everyone criticizes him and calls him a traitor.  But what happens when the club has no use for him a couple years down the road and terminates his contract? I bet you we won't be hearing any cries of outrage.

EDIT:  You're absolutely right, there are players like Maldini and Zanetti that are what footballers should be, it would be great if all footballers were like that.  But again club football is a business just like any other business.  A lot of footballers want to go where they can earn more money and fame.  Why do you think I don't like Ibra? He's all about gaining personal fame, he's not a team player at all, you think he cares about Inter? No he just wants to get player of the year award which I hope he'll never get.  I don't see how Mourinho could favor him over the likes of Adriano and Crespo.

Stuff like this is true even in the non-football world.  Some people quit their jobs and find another one that gives them more money, however there are the rare instances where people want to stay at the place they've worked at for years because they like it there, and won't leave even if another company offers them more money.

    Thats all I'm saying.

  2. Nothing we can do about it really. I can't really think otherwise because without this sponsorship we probably wouldn't have football, not professional footy anyway.
