  1. There's not much really "bad" about geothermal energy, it just has some difficulties and drawbacks.  Sufficient geothermal sources are not available everywhere.  It is very expensive up front to set up systems that can efficiently capture geothermal energy.  Large scale geothermal plants still require the use of land, often in natural areas.  It can be a valuable part of the solution, but is not by itself the answer to our energy problems.

  2. expensive, poor efficiency and it needs freakin' lava.

  3. You still need a supplemental heat source.  Heat from the earth is only 55 degrees.  Most people like it at 72.

  4. The upfront cost to install a geoexchange system can be quite hefty, especially for a larger home. The price tag can be offset quickly through energy savings though. And did you know that geothermal can even heat/cool your home on a individual room basis!

  5. Well geothermal energy can harm animals around it because it releases steam and that can harm animals, and plants around it.
