i have never done the pattern full out. i have a pleasure horse that i am thinking of selling for a contestor. but he is slow with the pattern. and i have been on an ex-contestor and he got hyper once he saw the barrels and i fell off. so i am kind of afraid to go fast because of falling off. but what is barrel racing like full out???

  1. it is fun and now that i have grown to like paint we r running 15's and 16's  im not afraid to fall off if you fall off you just fall off n it may hurt but not for long i have broken my tail bone 2 times and my left arm 3 times so the worst that can happen isnt much and if u r scared work on trusting your horse and learnto hang on by using your legs

  2. Its an awesome rush, like when you jump a big course or go X-country... the adrenaline is great... you need to work on getting over your fear so you can experience how fun it really is! :)

  3. My horse is obsessed with barrels.

He loves em, so he tends to look forward to do it.

My second time ever competing was a 17.1 for a regular NBHA pattern.

It is a full adrenaline rush though.

You have to have a good seat, heels down, straight head( haha yes. bc if u dont you will lose concentration). I have injured myself a few times but it gives me a more forcive chance to get back.

  4. proper saddle.  fit and size and type.  being an experienced rider is a must.  Full out is a roller coaster! on the flat.  pure adrenaline rush.

  5. It is either fun and exhilarating, or frightening and not so fun.  It all depends on whether you are on a well trained horse, and whether or not you are ready for riding that horse.  When a good barrel horse does the pattern, you are a part of him and his balance...and if you can be that, and complete the pattern, then it is wonderful.

  6. Its a total rush! Its like nothing you have ever experienced before with you horse..After a good run I was walking on air and my horse felt so good he even bucked a few times. Have fun with it!

  7. ok well im going to do barrels with my horse since she is a gameing horse. Ive never actualy shown her doing barrels but i do them in my arean all the time. its a huge adrenaline rush and can be very scary especialy if your horse is  "Hot". But its alot of fun in teh long run.
