  1. The couples in love with no regard to PDA (public display of affection).

  2. France is one of the few countries in the world where you have a little bit of everything it is maybe smaller than Texas

    but petrol is not everything....

  3. nothing

  4. So much. Unusually I find the Somme very beautiful, and obviuosly moving but many tourists don't go there.

The Gorges du Tarn near Millau are beeeee-autiful, as is nearby Rodez.

There's so much to see - could never list it all!

  5. I found the buildings and statues were so beautiful and varied.  They can be very ornate and lots of gold decorations.

I visited the Lot region which is gorgeous..with lots of medieval little villages that look like they are straight out of fairy tale books! Places I really enjyed were St Cirq lapopie village, Autoire village and Rocamadour (wow!).

I also liked the caves where people thousands of years ago lived....ie paintings et and the caves themselves with stalatites etc were pretty cool (temperature wise too).

Things are very extravagant in France and when they go for it they really go for it!! eg Versailles

  6. When I went to France, I fell in love with the palace of Versailles and its gardens. They are beautiful!

  7. The most beautiful thing in France is the countryside, small villagages, moutains, forests.... All regions are very nice. I live in Provence, and I must say it is a very very beautiful place!

  8. That is, I suppose, a matter of personal taste.

People tend to answer these sort of questions with descriptions of rural settings but, frankly, that does nothing for me.

The French countryside does look nice but then so does the country side in Texas, and we've got more of it. (After all you could fit all of France into a corner of Texas). If I want to see natural beauty I just look out the window into the forest of towering oak and pine that covers half my land.

But what France has that I can't see here is a rich  artistic and architectural heritage that stretches back to the days of the Roman Empire.

So what's beautiful in France to me are the ancient cities and  especially Paris. I could drop you into a beautiful countryside scene in any one of a thousand places and you wouldn't have a clue where you where. But I could plunk you down in Paris and you would almost instantly know where you were.

So when you talk of scenic beauty you talk about beauty that is everywhere.  But when you talk about Paris you talk about something  that is not just beautiful but beautiful in France.
