  1. It's a totally mind blowing experience because of the different way of life Qlders live. Nature is ever present in all that you do. This is because of the gorgeous warm climate, it keeps you out doors and swimming.

Swimming in the Dane Tree Rainforest's's rock pools is a must, especially in wet season, the rainforest glistens with jewels made of rain droplets and the fresh smell of the wet flora makes you know the earth is alive.

If your after fish...the Quicksilver cruiser will take you out to the Barrier Reef. You can snorkel or scuba dive in the fresh salty sea , feel the spongy meter long clams on the ocean floor, glide through the water with the almost harmless reef tip sharks (which will give you a bit of a rush when they swim past and tap you on the leg).

The vast array of tropical fish will surround you like your in  a maize of colour, dancing around you at lightning speed, all whilst you float above the albuminous corals.

Much recommended to stay until autumn/winter, it's a pleasant 27*  If your going in Australia's summer be prepared for the heat (30*-40*)and be well advised of the box jelly fish/irragangy. There are ways around the jelly fish of course, so don't be put off if you hear some scary stories about our fauna...nothing has ever happened to me and I've lived here all my life!

Please enjoy...an underwater camera is well advised.

  2. You'll love it. Cairns in particular is totally different from anything you could ever experience in the UK and Sydney is a beautiful city with heaps of things to do.

Cairns in January will be very hot and humid as it's in the tropics but you'll be able to see the Great Barrier Reef which is one of the wonders of the natural world and the World Heritage listed tropical rainforest of the Daintree isn't far away either. January is the wet season so there will be plenty of rain, but not rain like you've ever experienced before. It's much heavier, but WARM and not at all unpleasant to be out in.

Cairns itself doesn't have a beach worth mentioning, but there's a lovely safe man-made lagoon there where you can swim all year 'round. Lovely beaches are not far away but I think January is stinger season so you probably won't be able to swim at the beach . Take the train to Kuranda. The trip itself is awesome in the wet season and goes through magnificent rainforest with spectacular waterfalls and when you get there you'll find things like the Butterfly Sanctuary and Birdworld. Go on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway too.

You'll love Sydney too. It will be hot there in January (perhaps even hotter than Cairns), but it's a different kind of heat than in Cairns and not nearly as humid and tropical. There are heaps of things to do and places to see, but you must go for a ferry ride on its beautiful harbour. Go surfing at some of its many magnificent beaches. See the Opera House. Climb the bridge. Go to Taronga Park Zoo. The list is endless.

Australians are very friendly and you'll feel welcome everywhere you go. Enjoy.

  3. Mostly it's guna be FREAKIN HOT
