  1. left side is being oxidized and the right side is being reduced, or broken down


  2. Nitrogen is being reduced (Oxidation number is 4+ in N2O4 and then goes down to 0 in N2)

    Nitrogen is also being oxidized (Oxidation number is 2- in N2H4 and then goes up to 0 in N2)
