  1. i was diagnosed with bell's palsy 2 days ago and i'm only 16 years old. if you've ever had Novocaine it pretty much feels like that on the entire side of your face. I'm currently affected on the right side of my face. trouble closing my eye, crooked smile, and trouble eating are the worst symptoms ive encountered. There is not a whole lot you can do to treat it. It usually cures itself. the doctor has me taking an anti inflamatory med for 2 weeks. Hopefully it'l go away soon.

  2. I'm not sure what all it effects, but my mom got it 20 years ago when she was pregnant with my brother and it never went away.  It affected her smile and the whole left side of her face almost as if she had a mild stroke.

  3. Bells Palsy is a weakness or paralysis affecting the muscles on one side of the face due to inflammation or trauma of the facial nerve.

Bell's Palsy occurs more often in people recovering from viral infections and people who have diabetes. Women who are pregnant also have an increased chance of developing this condition.  The latest research suggests that it is possibly caused by a form of the herpes virus.

Traditional medical treatment consists of steroids and antiviral medications.  There are many alternative treatments that have shown alot of promise as well.  I used the vitamin B-12 therapy for my bells palsy and I did not start to see improvement until I did.  There are other treatments as well such as acupuncture.

Heres a couple of articles that I wrote based on my bells experience.  The first has some general information and the second has info on alternative treatments such as the B-12 I used.

    Hope these help you out.

  4. Bell's palsy or facial palsy is the paralysis of one side of the face causing it to be numb or to lose all movement. I was diagnosed with bell's palsy almost three years ago and I was put on antibiotics and steroids. It went away in like 2 months.
