Air cooling is very dependent on ambient temperature and air flow and really doesn't provide an optimum temperature environment. However, it is far simpler and sufficient in most cases in keeping the engine out of a melt down or seized condition.

Liquid cooling is much more consistent in keeping an engine at its optimum temperature.
