I would like to know what is the best early childhood education method/type/approach,based on your experience. There are so many such as Shichida, Glen Doman, Thematic, Montesorri, 'natural' ie Vital Years, phonics ie Smart Reader, etc. But I can only afford to enrol her for one type only. Which is value for money? Pls don't answer parental coaching without any method.

  1. One that I always recommend is starfall because it teaches in a game like atmosphere and is free.  I just read another question where a person is teaching an adult to read for the first time using starfall, and many I have recommended that to have told me how good it was for their children. Here is a link to look at for that.

  2. Look for a program that combines the best of many methods, and is flexible. The emphasis should be on play and exploration, with children making many decisions about what and how they play. On the other hand, avoid programs that dogmatically refuse to introduce academic concepts, along with ones that thing academics are the main focus and force kids into work that is for older kids. You know your child best and if you think a place would not be a good fit, find another.

  3. My daughter attended Montessori for 3 years. We LOVED it.

The quality depends on the individual school, but it's a wonderful way of teaching and learning.

  4. I would say montessori. I am an early childhood educator and of the types listed montessori is in m y opinion the best. I know it is excellent because it is child orientated and takes the kids where they won't to got with their learning. It encourages a love of learning and fosters the childs imagination. But the best learning environment before formal schooling is the home (not to sit and teach) but to play, read sing paint etc... just being with your child and taking their lead.

  5. Well, it depends on the type of education.

My mom taught me how to read before I went to preschool but she's from another country and has an accent. So in order to teach me phonics she bought me a little keypad-looking thing that enunciated each word that she typed in clearly so I would learn to pronounce it correctly. I think that and reading out loud to her would make her a good reader.

If you want her to be a math whiz, I think at A+ Report Card they have some really good math workbooks for just easy practice.

But basically if you want her to be a well rounded learner, I would suggest going on the Internet and looking up the curriculum for kindergartners then begin teaching her in a creative (meaning inexpensive) way. Like reading (always good), having her help in the kitchen by counting out food items, flashcards (memory skills), etc.

Really, that's how my parents taught me. They didn't enroll me into a bunch of programs- they made my learning about the world. They used every day items to teach me things that I didn't know.

  6. i have to say both Montessori and Shichida is a good method, for Shichida's method, they will specially created materials for developing numerous abilities each week, and their instructors receive certified brain stimulation license, i guess any method you choose, as long it will not stress the kid, 88db website has list of children enrichment programmes you can send your kids
