  1. crickets are they are more protein a mealworm has a tough outer exoskeleton which is ok but not very nutrional

  2. Either can be fed with similar success with proper gut loading. Crickets can carry pin-worms and small or gravid leos are susceptible to them. Meal worms are in my opinion the best food for leopard geckos. They are easily kept, gut loaded, contained, and will not chew on your animal like loose crickets will. When you get your mealies put a slice of fruit and a slice of potato in on top of the substrate. Let them chow down for a few hours and remove the fruit but leave the potato. Throw em back in the fridge and use when you need them. Remember the better food you feed your pray items the more nutritious they are for your pet. As to the chitin in their exoskeleton, leopard geckos have no problem digesting that when they are set up correctly.

  3. Crickets are better nutritionally IF they have been properly fed (gutloaded) before being fed to the gecko.  Mealworms are OK for geckos too.  The best thing to do is provide variety.  I have also used phoenix worms, silkworms, and wax worms on occasion.  Superworms (they are not the same as mealworms) are excellent source of nutrition and my guys love them.
