yeah ruby foo is ok. Try carmine's (italian) and perhaps ollie's (asian).

oh, and a short bus or subway ride to the village or upper west side puts you in the middle of fun places with fair prices.

Well, personally I would recommend the Hard Rock Cafe.

Gershwin is on 51st and the Cafe is between 43rd and 44th on broadway, its a couple blocks, but the food is amazing and the atmosphere is great.
