Question:

What is best surface for a patio area?

I want to tile a concreted section of my garden but dont want it to be a slip hazard, any suggestions that will look cool but be safe in all weathers

  1. Not sure of the climate you are in but remember tiles will crack when below freezing, wood (pressure treated) is wonderful.  Slate is nice too but is costly, your best bet is a paver or a brick.


  2. make sure that the tiles have a rough upper surface.

  3. I love the pavers you can get at your Home Depot or Lowe's.  We made a patio out of them and it's beautiful.  No way you're going to slip on those.  Be sure and put shale underneath and make sure it's level before you start putting down the pavers though.

  4. Flagstone is pretty and not too expensive. Make sure you treat it with protector, like Thompsons water seal, cause if not it will start crumbling, if it gets wet alot.
