  1. Look into a product called "Vert Glas".

this is a 3-step system that leaves a clear coat like finish on gelcoat that really brings the shine back.

Step one is to clean the boat surface like you've never cleaned it before.

Step two us to use the deoxidizer provided in the kit.  Then you clean the boat surface like you've never cleaned it before.

Step three is to apply 4-8 finish coats of finish provided in the kit.  This is done with a slightly damp chamois brush supplied with the kit.

You do not wax the boat at all for the rest of the year; simply keep it clean with a nonabrasive cleaner and repeat the process next spring.

  2. this question has been asked a couple of times on here already and everyone seems to have their own preference. Here's mine...

"Slightly faded" is open for interpretation but I'm going to assume you're not that far from the original. On our old boat we had one section that had been painted black by the manufacturer vs being colorized in the gelcoat. Each year it would oxidize and turn gray. Each spring I'd bring it back looking new by:

    1. applying a fine rubbing compound by buffer with extremely light pressure applied and removed by the buffer

    2. follow this up with McGuiars color restorer applied again by buffer with light pressure and again removed with the buffer

    3. follow this up with a coat of 3M's Cleaner Wax w/ the buffer...yes, again removed with the buffer and yes, you're going to need plenty of buffer bonnets

    4. lastly end the process with a coat of teflon wax applied/removed by hand

After going thru all of this if you keep on top of it you may only have to do this every other year...

    Good luck!
