No one has ever really advised me on what to eat. I was just wondering if changing my diet would help me swim better. Anyone know?

  1. Eating before a swim meet should be like a week long process you want to start with some carbs like pastas the first like 2 night cause you don't want to eat them like the night before you swim cause they can actually start to way you down... then eat just really healthy the next couple of night salad and meat don't starve yourself of carbs cause your body needs them for energy! Start hydrating early in the week try and drink at least 20oz. of gatorade the week leading up to a meet no soda or energy drink they will heavily affect you breathing. then at the meet bagels, bananas,  try to stay away from liquidy  fruits like grapes or watermelon cause when you swim your body tends to get nervous behind the block so you dont digest as well and you will tend to get gas which will be a cramp in the pool. after a meet chocolate milk is the best thing ever it an amazing recovery drink it will help flush acid out of your muscels and its great for you! Try It...

  2. before a swim meet eat all that healthy stuff!

dont eat greasy food or food with lots of calories..

during a meet eat bananas they help you so you wont get craps =]

and after you could eat whatever you want..

but just stick to the diet..

  3. Well the day b4 u should eat lots of carbs (pastas, bread, cereal). The morning eat bananas and drink enough water to stay hydrated.

Oh and claudia, bananas are to stop cramps, not craps. lol im just kidding.

  4. Obviously you should just eat a healthy, balanced diet. Some key things to eat are bananas (help cramping) and some carbs the day before your meet to give you energy.

  5. the night before spagetti morning bagle durning no sugar  maby a power bar

  6. eat pasta the night before and makesure that you drink a little bit of gatorade and lots of water. powerbars are good for you too. make sure you are eating and that you dont get dehydrated. dont eat junk food cause you will just get a sugar low. i would also eat some pasta during or right after the meet cause it will prep u for finals =) good luck

  7. i eat bagels and energy bars + ORANGES and gatorade and vitamin water

  8. the night before a swim meet: (choices)

    -lots of carbs; ex. pasta/rice/chicken/meat

    -be sure to drink milk

    -eat bread

    morning before the swim meet:

    choices:

    -bagel

    -oatmeal

    -omelet

-bread (toast/peanut butter & jelly sandwich)

    -muffin

but I suggest you not to eat cereal because cereal won't really get you enough strength to swim long distance events, esp. for the 800 free/400IM etc.

-drink orange juice/ any healthy juice or milk

    during the meet: (choices)

stay away from nachos but you can have it after you are done as a treat (if you want it of course xP)

    - maybe a hamburger/ hot dog

    - rice / sandwich

    - pasta/ just basically carb foods

but be sure to not be too full or else you'll swim slow! Just eat until you feel good/or a little full.

    after:

    -grains (again ><)

    - rice/ bread

    etc.

** Also be sureeee to eat fruits & energy bars during the meet (like a power bar)

good luck at your swim meets!
