  1. Some teachers are really picky about wanting one or the other.  Even if you get the notebooks where the paper tears out, sometimes it's hard to get them to tear out on the perforation without damaging the paper, and sometimes the overall size and shape of the paper and/or the space between the lines isn't exactly the same as looseleaf.

As I said, some teachers are really picky and they want all the papers they grade to be uniform.  Or if your report has to be a certain length, it won't match up right if the spacing between lines is smaller or larger than what the teacher specifies.

The only advantage I can see for buying notebooks is that it might be easier to keep up with assignments until you tear out the pages, but that problem could be solved with a binder and/or pocket folders.

I'm a looseleaf fan myself--no real sense paying extra for that spiral metal deal & covers unless that's what the teacher requests for that class!

  2. Depends. I've never met a successful college student who has a bunch of loose leaf  lined paper in a binder.

Most students use three subject/five sumbject(w/e subject) notebooks with pockets. That way you keep important flyers in a place where the three rings of a binder won't rip them out of the book and make them go every where in your  bag.

Besides- you should always work with what you have- that's loads better for your organizing abilities than going out and buying things.

  3. It depends on the class.  If you will be taking lots of notes, then a bound notebook will keep those in order for you.

If you will have lots of handouts or written assignments, then a binder with tabs for different categories (notes, assignments, handouts, etc) would be better.

  4. It is a matter of personal preference. I prefer loose leaf since you can add or delete pages, obtain dividers as necessary and with a hole punch insert handouts and returned test papers./

  5. id say a notebook so its more organized, and u can always rip paper out of it if u wanted
