What is better a Harmon Kardon Home Theatre or BOSE home theatre?

Both are good companies and they make good gear. Each has several levels of quality, which generally mean, the pricier, the nicer. All are pretty good, though with Bose, you pay a bit of a premium for their styling.

The basic point is try both out in the store, and see which you like. A good way to find out how the much the sound quality matches your tastes, is to play some music and/or movie clips through each system, and then decide which you like better for the sound.

You also need to consider the size and likely placement of the speakers in your home. The system must fit where you want to put it.

Bose is overpriced mediocre c**p. Bose equipment rarely gets reviewed and when it does it usually does poorly. See link 1.  Put bluntly you can do better than Bose with any number of manufacturers ... and for a lot less money.

HK  on the other hand generally gets good ratings. See the 2nd link for example reviews of HK receivers (Note that Bose isn't even on the list).  Other manufacturers worth considereing include Onkyo, Yamaha, Denon, NAD, Pioneer, etc. See the 3rd link for recommended HTIB systems.

Depends on your budget, but don't buy Bose. They have great marketing but in terms of audio quality, its total c**p. They sell on the "wife factor" because of the size and how it fits people's decor. If you dont believe me, go check out any AV forum on the net and you will find that most audiophiles/enthusiasts think very low of Bose. HK makes decent entry-mid level stuff, but this all comes down to your price point. In what I call the "mainstream" mass market (stuff you can buy at Best Buy, Circuit City, etc.), I'd would go with Onkyo , Yamaha, or Denon. In the high-end market, I'd go with Rotel, Classe, McIntosh, Marantz
