  1. I don't care for either.  I prefer our government, which is an amalgam of the two.

For you right wingers out there, "amalgam" is a big word for "combination."

  2. Human choice is the best confirmation.  Since the Soviet Union fell 17 years ago, when nearly all people in the world became free to choose capitalism or socialism, they overwhelmingly chose capitalism.  Consider that the most unfettered, unregulated capitalist nation on Earth is China.

  3. I believe it has to be approached more philosophically rather than by weighing pros and cons.  At the base of capitalism lies the idea that people should ultimately have the power to determine their own livelihood and that government intervention, even when well-intentioned, will hinder that.  Of course, with the power to make choices for yourself, you must also accept the responsibilities of your poor choices.  In that since there is definitely a give and take.

Regarding health care, most people don't realize how the American health care system worked before the government intervention of today.  People didn't typically have full coverage insurance policies, neither private nor government provided.  Instead people paid cash for routine doctor visits, checkups, etc.  They could afford to do this because doctors did not have the extra expense of hiring medical billing specialists to wade through the insurance bureaucracy.  Once the government began to provide subsidized medical coverage, the extra costs of dealing with the paperwork coupled with the increased demand on medical providers resulting from the fact that people were more prone to go to the doctor for minor medical issues (rather than self-medicating), caused medical costs to skyrocket, increasing the demand for health insurance.

And of course there can never be any such thing as "free" health care as the only money the government has is what it takes from you and I.

  4. A child would answer: Socialist govt. Because, the word Social, Society etc are attached with the word socialist, whereas Capital is attached with Capitalist Govt.

As an adult, I will support the child. Because who has capital? Only few people are capturing capital in this world! Isn't it better to have a Socialist Govt?

  5. A more capitalist government, because no social programs ever work, I mean EVER!

  6. We need to find a balance. Neither will give us what we want.

    What is better? Socialism

    What works better? Capitalism

    It's the sad truth.

  7. Capitalist, laissez faire government is the best. When people are allowed to achieve and reach their potential, it works best for everyone. When success is punished by the redistribution of wealth to those that are unwilling to work, that rewards slothfulness and extinguishes motivation. Americans are the most generous people on earth, studies have proven this. Contrary to popular liberal belief, the recent Republicans are not laisse faire. They are not much different than the Democratrs in policy.

  8. We need to move to the middle. Years of abuse under laissez faire Republicans have ruined regulation that was put into place to protect consumers and American citizens. If they had their way I am sure they would start allowing trusts and monopolies again.

  9. There is no such thing as free health care. Raised taxes pay for health care in a universal set up.

Capitalist is the best - America has been using it for 212 years now and we're the most powerful and the wealthiest nation in the world.

  10. In the end niether are perfect, combining both is great, which so far no countries have really been able to do. I dont see why the US doesnt socialize healthcare, all of the stories about people having to wait days for care are lies. ok not all of them but a lot of them are exaggeration and lies. hey, in the US sometimes people dont get care immediatly, so there will always be horror stories. The US already socializes librareys and public traansportation and gradeschool so idk why they dont do it for healthcare and other stuff.

but no matter what, there is no perfect way and there will always be corruption, its human nature to want power.

    =)

    hope that helps

  11. The founding fathers all left countries that acted socialist.  Good enough answer?  Since when has it been the gov'ts problem to provide healthcare.  I thought it was just to defend its citizens.

  12. Capitalism and Government are enemies of each other.
