What is better constitutional monarchy or republic?

What do you prefere to be the first person that represents that good of the people: a monarch or a president?

a monarch obviously...and he must be chosen by God..without inheriting the monarchy ..if they don't deserve....as it was in Israel..a monarch shows that God exists..and this makes you feel strong...

i think that a Constitutional Monarchy is better because it shows a human side to to the goverment. I mean in that type of goverment the monarch only has cermonial power but it he or she usally has the support of some people.

Depends on the country; US a democratic republic is better; UK, constitutional monarchy; and Greece could really go either way JMHO.

Britain has had all three types of government. An absolute monarch followed by a republic followed by a constitutional monarch.

The absolute monarch was swiftly brought to heel with the Magna Carta and lessened further with the birth of parliament.

The republic was a puritannical fundementalist nightmare that reopened a whole can of worms in Ireland, banned theatres, closed many ale-houses, insisted on church attendance and called off christmas. Admittedly it did advance parliament a great deal.

The constitutional monarchy is the best system since it does not interfere with the democratic running of parliament and provides a religious symbol of the English church and that of the country itself. Also in modern terms it creates a great deal of business for Britain in terms of tourism and overseas trade;since a monarch can pay a visit to the particular country Britain wishes to trade with - and that trumps a president / politician any day of the week.

I think there is a more human and humane touch to a constitutional monarchy. You always feel you have one last person to appeal to for justice or reason when bureaucracy is working against you.

I've travelled in several republics this year and to me there seems to be something missing from the fabric of society. They seem a little more harsh and uncompromising.
