What is better exercise cycling or swimming?

I know both are great forms of exercise but what would be better for the body long term wise?

    Swimming is the BEST kind of exercise!

    It works every muscle in your body and thats a fact.

    You use your ***, arms, legs, core, everything!


  2. There are more benefits swimming offers than cycling. It exercises all parts of your body. It is a safe sport: no exertion on your ankles or knees like in cycling or jogging; cycling gives the added danger of being on the road with other traffic.

    You wont get heat exhaustion during swimming and you should feel cool and comfortable. You can enjoy swimming right until old age, but not cycling.Swimming skills can be used to save others in times of emergency.  Finally swimming has several styles and it would keep you occupied and interested learning them.  

  3. Swimming works all muscle groups and has the least amount of injured athletes. It is a sport that you can do in old age and is very beneficial for those who have bad joints.

    Before I started competitive swimming, I was of "healthy" weight, but my body wasn't toned and I was flabby/soft all over. After two years of it, my arms are toned, my legs are toned and muscular, and I actually have abs!

    In addition, in the long run, swimming can save your/someone else's life; cycling can't. If you're just going for staying in shape, you could alternate cycling and swimming on different days. Who knows, maybe you might want to go do a triathlon (swim, bike, run) one day.
