What is better for the environment - flushing tissue down the loo or putting into dustbin ?

loo is fine as it is collected and composted at the other end without any extra transportation costs.   (just not too much in one go!)

Omg, I'm a really evil lady, obviously toilet paper used in the toilet goes down the loo, but other than that any paper that I can't put in the paper bank, including nose tissues, goes up in a little bonfire in the back garden every so often, including cardboard that our council isn't allowing us to recycle yet.  I justify this little personal indulgence in that I do not drive or fly, and I am not rich enough yet to afford one of those super efficient shredders to stop identity theft, all the personal stuff gets burnt too.

if it's used toilet paper with excrement then flush it .

for normal tissue type or all papers which have not been metallised or treated  other than coloured,  recycling is the best answer.

  your local waste management officer will be able to direct you to a local facility.

reusing the paper is better than flushing it away where it still has to be processed but cannot be reused as paper per se.

  recycled  tissue can be reused as part of a new product such as card etc and  reduces need  on cutting down trees etc. has energy savings and so on.

so don't put it in with  all the other waste in your dustbin or it too goes to landfill and is wasted!!

  put it aside ( you should be able to get special bags for this) and have it recycled.

Not much difference. I put toilet paper, which is designed to disintegrate in water, in the loo and facial tissue into the dustbin. Most other paper gets recycled. Personal information that is on paper gets burned during the winter (when the woodstove is on) and shredded and recycled during the warm weather.

Ewwwww.......  I hope this is a joke.  Why on earth would you keep used poilet paper in a trashbin?  Flush all of that stuff.
