  1. Right next door to the Skyrail (that takes you to Kuranda) is an Aboriginal Culture Park called Tjapukai - you are better off going there to get most of Aboriginal culture.  You can even throw spears and boomerangs!

The Hartley's croc park is a bit of of town.  If you want to see crocs there's one on my beach this morning!! ..... but seriously go to the Cairns Zoo - 5 min drive from Skyrail and Tjapukai.  They do croc shows there also and much more!

http://www.cairnstropicalzoo.com.au Fee kanagroos, cuddle a koala, they have a great wild bird show  - and if you can't make it during the day, they do a night show which includes dinner.  http://www.cairnsnightzoo.com

There is also a croc right in the city - on top of the Casino, called the DOME !  - a replicated rainforest environment with Australian wildlife.  See http://cairnsdome.com.au - if you don't have time for the zoo - they do a "mini version" right in town.  Once you pay your admission you can go back anytime over the next 4 days if you want to return.

  2. I was up there last August.  I did the Hartley Croc Farms.  Was not impressed with that at all.  They inform you that they will take you on a tour of the breeding tanks.  There are quite a few.  We were shown one, only one, and that contained quite larger crocs, too many for the area they were confined in I think, and not shown anything about how they hatch, how small they are when they come out of the eggs, etc. I would definitely consider the rainforestation and army duck tour and aboriginal dances.
