  1. HD-DVD is dead, so it doesn't matter if it was better or not - all we have left is blu-ray.

  2. HD-DVD is no longer supported by any manufacturer. Therefor Blu-ray is "better" especially with profile 2 players that have just been released last month. However, right out of the gate HD-DVD had several advantages and Blu-ray was not quite ready for prime time before last month(07/2008). But since the demise of HD-DVD you have no choice and Blu-ray is the only present high-definition standard. Prices are expected to come down a bit after Christmas 2008 but expected to remain stable till then.

Personally I will not get a hi-def player until I can get one for near $100. Also consider the $30-$40+ price of movies in Blu-ray format, and the fact that you need a 1080p TV set to see the difference.

  3. Blu Ray has been chosen to be the standard, which means the end of HD.  I'd say that Blu Ray was chosen because it is "better."

    I've included the specs comparision:

  4. Blu-ray discs can hold more data which means less compression so better quality. But the hd-dvd format has died.
