  1. Most people live in the suburbs. The schools are good, people are friendlier, rent is cheaper. There is public transport but not entirely reliable.

  2. I lived in Sydney for years, and most people will live in the suburbs and work in the city.

There is a fairly decent train system and the buses are good too.

There are great schools around too, and lots of them.

Look for somewhere near a major train station (I lived on the East hills line) and you should be fine.  There is of course the hassle of commuting, but, lifestyle is much better!

  3. I'm from Sydney.

I'll tell you, for a start that we have very frequent transport services, especially for trains but if there are problems, our transport service can be one of the worse.

Sydney suburbs are great. All of them are either served by a train station or bus stop... or even both. Taxi services are adjacent to the train stations. Trains are available every 15 minutes on weekdays and every half hour on weekends.

Housing affordability isn't great here... the houses are too expensive and so is the cost of living.

Schools aren't bad either. There's more than one school in most suburbs.

  4. Living in the suburbs is a lot better for the reasons you've mentioned, and suburbs are better places to bring up your kids. All suburbs surrounding Sydney have public transport, preschools and schools, as well as other amenities and conveniences. Many people prefer to live in the suburban regions and travel daily via public transport to the City to work.

  5. yeah its cheaper
