  1. Nikon is a Camera manufacture and has been making cameras for years. Sony bought out Minolta and is now trying to get a piece of the digital camera market.

  2. Hmm... In my opinion, I'd say a nikon... Alpha is pretty good, but the nikon is superb.

  3. I am a Nikon D60 user my friend bought a Sony A200 (just below 300). So i know the differences in person.

Though sony makes the sensor for nikon, camera make wise, nikon is far more ahead of what sony make now. Dont bother the cheap rate of Sony DSLRs.

    I suggest you buy a Nikon D60. :-)

  4. Depends on what you need. The A300 has more features and superior 'live view' in fact, the best. Just about everyone will tell you to go with Canon or Nikon because they are like pepsi and coke. Nothing wrong with that, however Sony, in just over 2 years has introduced 5 dslr bodies, six if you count the flagship that's about to drop.

Sony alpha's also have image stabilization built into the body, it works with all lenses, Nikon you only get that with special IS lenses, called VR by Nikon. Either one is fine, compare the features and go with the one that fits the bill. PopPhoto has a new shootout

So depending on what you want, the Canon could be your choice, or the Sony for user controls, faster auto focus in good light etc. Notice that Canon and Nikon didn't blow the Sony away, and they've been around forever. They tested the A350 alpha with a higher res chip, everything else should be the same as the 300
