What is better: snowboarding or skiing?

i'm going snowboarding or skiing for my first time this year...and i was wondering...

~which do you prefer?

~what should i expect on my first day of snowboarding/skiing?

I'd say snowboarding because its not as complicated, and u dont do the splits going down the hill. Also, you should expect to get used to the sport you chose.

If you don't have a preference either way, I'd suggest skiing.  Especially if you don't plan on going very often.  Skiing is a little easier to learn at first.  It takes most people a couple of days at least to learn to balance on a snowboard and be in control.

Either way, take a lesson!  You instructor will help you learn the basics as well as safety on the hill.

Whatever you choose, have fun doing it!  And don't feel pressured by your friends to do something you don't feel comfortable doing!

to be honest skiing is alot easier.. well maybe its because ive been skiing for 9 years and im 15... but i also snowbaord and its my third year.. i can do black on both of them and some double black on my skis. Skiing is alot easier on those steep slopes and fun to jump with on ramps, i have A LOT more control with them that my snowbaord... but when snowbaording grinding is amazing and jumps are still fun (i like the feel when i land good :D) well to me i think skiing is easier but snowbaording is a a bit funner

I like snowboarding, but I never tried skiing. It's really easy the first day, except you will fall when you try to stop because it's hard to balance. But you'll get the hang of it. Remember to go on the small hills first.

i've done both and perfer snowboarding.  i would also recomend barrowing a helmet from someone for the first time out because u will most likely be falling and then runs are almost always icy.  just to warn you, renting a snowboard can be up to twice as expensive as skis
