  1. NO. i have vonage, this is what i did, i bought a Phone that came with 3 other phones--4 total. So the main one i connected to the vonage modem, because that requires the phone line input. The other 3 i put in my rooms, because those do NOT require a Phone jack...they just plug into the power Outlet for charging purposes.

Vonage is great i have it for month. Got to love it

A wired phone jack is a lot better, and more useful. It also will have the best sound quality. The wireless may get inference, and you will loose the phone ability, or get bad static.

Also the wired phone jack will work even if your power goes out.

But a Wireless will not work, if the power goes out because without current it can not send the wireless signal

  2. I don't know if vonage has their own equipment that they give you to use, but really this should be just a decision of convenience.

A 2.4 GHz wireless phone can reach up to 100 ft without significant signal loss.  They even have a 5.4 GHz wireless phone. (generally, the higher the frequency, the farther the range)  I don't know exactly what the range is on the 5.4, but I think it would be same to assume that you could go to you neighbor's house and still use your phone.

And don't worry about someone picking up your signal -they can't.  I mean, they can if they're a really good hacker, but the chances of that are extremely slim.

As for the standard wired phone, any digital phone will do (seeing as you have vonage).  Just plug it into a power source and the phone jack and you're good to go.

-er, stay i guess... if you chose the wired kind. lol
