What is better torrents or Limewire or Ares etc.... which has less viruses.

Question

What is the best torrent and client also can you give me all the information about torrents you know. I just got a new computer and i dont want to catch any thing bad on it also so what precautions will have to take to try and keep it safe. Long answers are okay. Any additional information would be good.

I don't know much about torrents. But limewire should be alright. It is somewhat dangerous when you are careless do download the file. Program files can normally have viruses. Musics or videos are less likely to have viruses. I don't use limewire anymore a friend of mine clicked a music file that is 448k (which is obviously not a music file). Thank god I have  avast. Having an anti-virus can help if you have limewire.

I would say limewire is the best (kinda biased). I have no knowledge how to use torrents.

get the FREE versoion of AVG 8 before you do anything else.

It doesnt matter which torrent program you use(I use uTorrent), the key is to run AV prog on all downloads before you try to run/use them.

my protection package consists of the latest versions of AVG 8, Ad-aware and Spybot 1.6, trust me, I have no problems.

Fyi, your new pc probably came with some type of trial AV program, which will eventually timeout and be useless to you, unless you pay to renew it. Remember, you can only run ONE AV program for it to be effective; running more than one will make them all less effective, and cause potential conflicts and errors between the different AV programs. Delete any existing AV program(s) BEFORE installing a new one.

Limewire and Ares work very similarly. The Limewire network is riddled with virii.

Torrents are generally safer (in my opinion) because when you choose a download link, many times there's a comments section with comments from other people who have downloaded that particular torrent, and they will tell you if it's the real file and if it has a virus or not.

bitlord is a good torrent tracker and downloader, but id recomend using piratebay to download the torrent then open it with bitlord (or any other torrent downloadrer you may have)

well, it would all depend on what you are looking to download. both limewire and ares are file sharing. if you want to download mp3 files (songs) then limewire would be the way to go. however, if you want to download movies or .exe files (programs&software) then torrents are definitely recommended.

you could download movies and software off of limewire or ares, but the thing is, neither have a good selection of movies and you never really know what software you are really downloading when using limewire or ares. a majority of the .exe files are viruses, trojans, and other harmful stuff to a computer.

torrents, just like limewire and ares, have their share of viruses and junk, but you can usually get a better hint of what you are downloading. on most torrent sites, people are allowed to leave comments about the quality of the download. i really recommend reading these comments before downloading an .exe file just to see if its safe. plus, torrents also have a HUGE selection of movies to download.

and utorrent is the best torrent client, hands down.

heres some random info about torrents...

1. before downloading a torrent file, you must need a torrent client (utorrent recommended)

2. go to a torrent website and search for something that you want to download. when you get your results you will notice something that says "seeders" and "leechers." the seeders are the people who already have the file sucessfuly downloaded to their computer. the more seeders, the better. because they will help the file download much quicker. leechers are the other people that are trying to download the file too. if there is a large number of leechers, it may slow down the downloading process.

torrents are known for being safer and limewire is a virus pit. Torrent valley or the pirate bay are my favorites. I would download limewire and use that as your torrent manager. But do NOT use limewire to find stuff. Thats where the  viruses circulate.
