    Terms to look up on wikipedia are biodiversity and monoculture.

    Nonenvironmentalists need to understand the dangers of monoculture. If all the corn died, we'd have big problems. Avian flu can wipe out large numbers of poultry. If we varied our diets more, it would not be such a problem. Biodiversity gives humans more options on what to eat.

    People who have to deal with the elements understand the need for lots of species. Birds eat locusts who eat crops. Bobcats and raptors eat mice and rats. Bats eat mosquitoes.

    Environmentalists and naturalists value all species, even those we don't understand. All species have a place in the world and it's tragic to find out the value of a species after it is gone.

  3. biodiversity is the amount of differnt species living in an area. we need to care about it because if it was to decrease it will affect the food chain, force migratinon, create instability. Biodiversity is also important for ecological processes, recreation, information, aesthetics and economy.
