  1. Biodiversity is many different types of species. For example, in a forest you can have mammals, insects, fish, and birds, and you can have many different kinds of each. If you put up a birdfeeder you will see many different species of bird visiting to eat, that is biodiversity. If you put up a birdfeeder and see only one or two species visiting, the environment lacks biodiversity.

So a forest with high biodiversity has lots of each kind of animal.

The reason biodiversity is important is because all the roles of feeding in a forest must be maintained for a healthy equilibrium. Imagine if you put up a birdfeeder and no birds came to it, each day you go out and fill your feeder, but no birds--the seeds keep piling up, they don't get distributed, a lot of little things that are bad. So when many species become missing all these little bad effects on the ecosystem build up and create an unhealthy forest.

  2. The different variety of living organisms in an area

  3. Biodiversity refers to the variety of species living in a given environment at a given time.  When many different species all coexist in a particular environment together, that environment is said to have a high biodiversity.

  4. Bios means organism and diversity means different species. So, biodiversity means different species of organism living together in an ecosystem and are interdedent on ech other either directly or indirectly

,Ex: food web and loss of even one species can cause imbalance and can disturb whole ecosystem.
