What is black bean sauce?

There are several varieties. Ground and mashed black beans with lots of soy sauce, garlic and hot chili pepper. You'll find it in Asian stores or the Asian section of your grocery store.

I Myself perfer Fermented Black Bean Paste, but it can be strong, and not to everybodies taste. But yes it is that simple, just a puree of black beans and flavorings. Cheers

It's a sauce thats a little salty, seasoned and mixed with preserved black beans.  Usually can be found in the international section of most major supermarkets. (Usually the Asian section, near teriyaki, hoison and so on sauces)
